God Dammit Mary

God dammit Mary won't you please understand me? Sit down and listen, this time I swear I'm not rambling on about the past. Just make the moment last.
I'd like to take this time to tell you why you should think of me when you feel like crying, because in two weeks' time, we'll say goodbye and I'm ready to leave the bullshit behind.
Because eight long months became four short years and lonely tonight I'm fighting all of my fears when I look you in the eyes to tell you how I feel, I get sand in my mouth and you never hear.
Don't you know I taught all the songbirds every song they'll try to use to win your heart? Don't you know I caught all the songbirds and learned all their songs so I could sing you to tonight.
Fruit gusher explosion of shitty emotion, I get so sick of going through the motions and putting blame on others when I'm held responsible, I didn't know hating myself this much was possible.
I am innocent and caught in a battle for my heart decides to where I will travel. Maintain a peaceful pace to a new-found place to let a true love story unravel.
Don't you know I taught all the songbirds every song they'll try to use to win your heart? Don't you know I caught all the songbirds and learned all their songs so I could sing you to tonight.

He was a peace-loving punk kid in a sea of nonbelievers and not a single day did a single thing so seem as it appeared. He set to change the world one day you could say he was a dreamer, whoa.
Everybody's acting like they know something I don't, the way they talk about it it all seems like a joke to me and I seem fine I seem alright, but I can't seem to recognize myself behind these lies.
Everything equals debt and I don't care what I lose tonight, because even the money well-spent could never buy us this time back.

We stole stuff from the Big Lots then hightailed it to the church parking lot, yelled obscenities at the mall cops and ran away because we were kids having fun.
I woke up really early to bike down the highway all by myself, we had ourselves inside the confines of your property until eleven rolled around and I had to leave, but that's not all I had to leave.
So I spoke with my good friend JD, he was really cool and he always got us the good stuff for free because we've got nowhere to be 'cause you're my best friend and we're just hanging, just hanging you and me.
